Syrah. IGT Toscano Syrah.

Organoleptic properties

Bright ruby red colour. Warm and sumptuous, it offers the characteristic aroma of black pepper and thyme and envelopes the palate with layers of ripe red currant, blueberry, and blackberry. The richness and smoothness of its tannin structure rise to a higher balance thanks to the good body and pleasing roundness given by the refinement in barriques.

Food pairing and serving temperature

The spicy, warm and tannic nature of this wine, makes it the perfect match with braised and grilled meats, and young Pecorino cheese. Excellent with wild boar “alla cacciatora” or “in dolce e forte”, an extraordinary dish that comes straight from the Renaissance banquets and combines the preparation of wild boar already known from the Middle Ages, with chocolate. Poggio al Corso is also the ideal glass of wine to enjoy in moments of relaxation.

Serving temperature 16 – 18°C.

Production area and soil structure

Campagnatico (GR) – Toscana. Sandy-skeletal soil.

Grape vine training methods

Spur-pruned (Cordon).

Harvest season and picking method

End of August. Manual picking into small boxes.

Wine-making process and ageing

Temperature-controlled vinification in stainless steel vats. Aged in French Allier oak barriques and tonneaux (18 months).
